English Ling Liang's English lessons have always been fun and interactive where children learn through games and songs. Since 2020, we revamped our English curriculum and introduced a range of resources to enhance children's learning. Our new curriculum is story-based, using high-quality picture books to expand children's vocabulary and teach basic concepts. Our class library has expanded, and we now offer leveled readers and picture books for children to borrow. We also have a systematic Phonics curriculum that gradually builds up children's ability to blend sounds and decipher words. The animated Storytime videos support learning at home, and parents can find out about the theme activities through our Newsletter. Last but not least, we custom-made a set of activity booklets to help children develop their fine motor and writing skills. We hope that our enriched English curriculum can spark children's interest in learning English and help them establish a stronger foundation in the early years. Putonghua Mandarin programs are designed to match the physiological and psychological development of children in relation to learning language. Various interactive group activities enable children to learn mandarin with ease. These activities train children’s listening, speaking, reading and writing skills for the everyday use. Reading Scheme Our kindergarten has been dedicated to nurturing children’s interest and ability to read. In order to further enhance children’s reading competence, our kindergarten has implemented the “Please Listen to Me” Reading Scheme in recent years. Through this reading scheme, we encourage children to take an initiative in reading aloud to people. Lo and behold, children have numerous opportunities to read aloud every week. The enjoyable experience of reading aloud not only enhances children’s confidence, but also improves their oral language skills and range of vocabulary.
